고려대학교 국어국문학과를 졸업하고, 같은 학교에서 석사·박사 학위를 받았다. 고려대학교, 상명대학교, 연세대학교, 성균관대학교 동아시아학술원, 고려대학교 민족문화연구원 등에서 고전문학과 한문학을 가르치며 공부하고 있다.
논문으로 「16세기 후반∼17세기 전반 비지문(碑誌文)의 전범(典範)과 서술 양상에 대한 고찰」, 「조선후기(朝鮮後期) 산문(散文)에 나타난 공감(共感)과 소통(疏通)」, 「조선중기(朝鮮中期) 문화의 패턴과 그 표현 양상」, 저서로 『16세기 후반∼17세기 전반 산문 연구：공(公)에서 사(私)로의 전환』, 『한국고전문학작품론 4：한시와 한문산문』(공저), 『한국고전문학작품론 5：한문고전』(공저), 번역서로 『국역 근재집』(공역), 『국역 제정집』(공역) 등이 있다.
An Deuk-yong is a Professor of Korean Language and Literature at Pukyong National University. He authored several books and articles, including 16 segi huban 17 segi jeonban sanmun yeongu: gong-eseo sa-roui jeonhwan (A Study of the Prose of the Late 16th Century to the Early 17th Century: A Shift from Public to Private), Hanguk gojeon jagiseosa yeongu (A Study of Classical Korean Autobiography), and “Jeongchijeok useum-eul tonghae bon 15 segi huban 16 segi jeonban pilgi-ui gudo-wa yangsang” (The Structure and Features of Handwriting in the Late 15th Century to the Early 16th Century: Insights from Political Humor).
