한국외국어대학교 동시통역대학원을 졸업한 후, 캐나다 브리티시 컬럼비아 대학교 도서관학, 아시아학과 문학 석사, 동 대학 비교문학과 박사 학위를 취득했다. 2000년 한국국제교류재단의 대학원생 장학금을, 박사과정 완료 후 캐나다 연방정부의 SSHRC 연구비를 받았다. 캐나다 브리티시 컬럼비아 대학교 아시아학부에서 강사로 일했고, UBC 아시아 도서관에서 참고 사서로 일했다. 오정희의 단편 「직녀」, 서수진의 『골드러시 Gold Rush』 등을 번역했다.
Jeon graduated from the Graduate School of Simultaneous Interpretation, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies and received her M.L.S. (School of Library and Archival Science), M.A. (Dept. of Asian Studies) and Ph.D. (Program of Comparative Literature) from the University of British Columbia, Canada. She has taught as an instructor in the Dept. of Asian Studies and worked as a reference librarian at the Asian Library, at UBC. She was awarded the Korea Foundation Scholarship for Graduate Students in 2000 and Canada SSHRC Grant after her Ph.D. program. Her publications include the translation Weaver Woman(Acta Koreana, Vol. 6, No. 2, July 2003) from the original short story Chingnyeo (1970) by Oh Jung-hee.
