Happiness is getting along with a person closest to you. If you want to get along with a person closest to you, you have to know how, and if you want to know how, you have to learn and become proficient in it and become a master. And if you want to know whether you have become a master, you have to be verified. Just like a driver’s license.
Man and woman are different even if they have the same brain. Man, who has a developed left brain, is intellectual, proactive, and is superior in analyzing and integrating. On the other hand, woman, who has a developed right brain, is intuitive, sensitive, passive, and emotional. So man’s virtue is courage, toughness, competitive spirit, power, control, dominance, and aggression, and woman’s virtue is gentleness, expressivity, responsiveness, sensitiveness, and adaptability. As man grows, instrumental aspects like autonomy, activity, creativity, momentum, ambition, courage, assertion, and leadership develops. On the contrary, woman develops expressive aspects such as nurturing, gentleness, warmth, caring, sympathy, spoken words and gesture. After finding out that happiness is a skill that must be learned, and needs energy which must be supplied daily, I made up my mind to make a tonic for my family for a lifetime. Even to couples attending the Happiness Class for Couples, I ordered them to make themselves, their children, and each other take 3 doses of compliment tonic. Of course, I make them a tonic first. I deliver my compliment tonic once a week by phone or text message. If you want to be happy, knowing one’s identity is the top priority. A person who hasn’t asked the question, ‘Who am I?”, and a person who hasn’t thought hard about one’s roots cannot say that he or she is happy. A person who has thought deeply about oneself newly recognizes one’s own value at the crossroad of whether to live as myself or as someone else. If one newly realizes one’s value, one knows the direction of life and one’s life changes afterwards. In his mind, there is a compass of life always showing the right direction. “Live ‘here and now.’ Only when you can live here and now, you can keep your composure, and only when you become such a person, you can use and enjoy humor. Only when you become such a person, you can draw a big picture in your mind, and the person who meets such a person feels comfortable. And a person who lives here and now is always diligent. Equip yourself with expertise armed with excellence. You never know when and how a person with skills might be used. So have faith in yourself. Be a person who knows how to trust others. Even if there is something difficult, do not give up until the end. Get back up even if you fall seven times. That will become the foundation for your future. Recognize your own emotion and desire ‘now.’ --- 본문 중에서 |

This books is about happiness skills that we usually ignore unconsciously. The happiness expert Lee Kyung-chae(Hanna) is the happiest person in this society. She has a very happy family, children and grandchild. She has a very romantic husband who is very happy and wise. She also builds a good relationship with her husband. They love each other so much. They respect other person's needs and desires. They communicate well. This book will be the textbook for the people who want to have that kind of happy relationship.
Rome is not built one day. Hanna and her family did a lot of work to improve their relationship. When you read this book you will be happy in a moment. The writer's energy and devotion to make readers be happy now are written in all of the text. Lee Kyung-chae is learning and helping lots of people who are in trouble with family matters and personal issues. She provides some of the solutions to live happily in this hard and uncertain times. These days Korean divorce rate is increasing. Even though people are abundant these days, they are not quite satisfied. Happiness is not established by comparison, anger, frustration, fear and jealousy. Whatever arises, accept that. That is the beginning point of happiness. Happiness is already within you. You can pull it out and use it now. Amazon Reader Ben's Review I was fortunate to receive a copy of Lee Kyung-Chae's new book, ‘How to Use Happiness’. It is a thorough guide to improving the reader’s happiness, by improving and sustaining interpersonal relationships using better communication techniques. Each chapter is dedicated to familial relationships; husband-wife, and parent-child, breaking out parent-child from the perspective of both parents to both sons and daughters. The chapters give examples and explain how the different relationships influence happiness and how the reader can improve their relationships by better communication in order to increase happiness. Each chapter closes with two questions for the reader to consider and answer to expand self-understanding. The final chapters discuss using the earlier lessons to improve communication outside the family, and offer guidance on improving the reader’s self by expanded reading and writing, arguing that the most complete route to understanding a subject is by reading, then writing about it. This is a detailed book, but written in an easy to read, almost conversational style, and will help the reader who internalizes these lessons to improve relationships and happiness. |

“Guide for Recovery and Healing of Relationships” Ministers who lead the way in lifting families are broadly classified into theorists and doers. Lee Kyung-chae(Hanna), the author of this book, has a rich clinical experience in transforming couples. But she also wrote a book I want to keep, which is good enough to be used as a textbook equipped with good theory. The author, Hanna Lee, was a student who studied diligently ever since the days when I lectured as a professor at the Clinical Pastoral Research Institute after acquiring a doctor’s degree in the US and coming back to Korea 29 years ago. She is also my pupil who is constantly exerting efforts in counseling and family ministry up to now as Healing & Counseling Institute was opened afterwards.
A psychologist claimed that the interest of the modern Christian is summed up into spirituality, personality type, inner healing, and happy family life through relationships. This book deals with these topics as well as relationships such as marital relations, parents and children, and adolescents, and is good enough to be used as a guide for recovery and healing. I have no doubt that the author’s ministry will greatly contribute to making Korea a happy country and hence gladly recommend this book. - Dr. Jeong Tae-gi (President of Healing & Counseling Graduate University) |

Recommendation 2“Beautiful like a garden with a beautiful fragrance” I don’t read a lot of books from our country. Even if I read them, I just have a taste of it for several minutes with speed reading. But then, once in a while when I get a feel that it is not an ordinary book, I read it intensively. Lee Kyung-chae(Hanna)’s “Life Recipe” had a different atmosphere from the very beginning. Since you can know the taste of beef only when you chew it well, Hanna’s writing taste better the more you read it. I met Hanna through the season edition of “Christian Literature Tree” I run. Even though she started her career as an essayist, she challenged herself once again to write children’s books which is a new genre for her and was recognized as a children’s book writer. The career history of the author is impressive. Especially, her being recognized as a psychotherapist to many people through psychology research is impressive, and her taking graduate school course at United Graduate School of Theology is equally impressive.
In fact, writing is similar to a believer confessing one’s sins to a priest because you have to pour out everything from inside of you. The only difference is that since a confession is performed secretly with a priest, one’s wrongdoing is not known publicly, but writing is a confession poured out to everyone. So there are no secrets. Even if you use somebody else’s writing without permission, a plagiarism dispute breaks out. Hanna’s book, “Recipe for a Happy Family” is a piece of writing where the author poured out everything such as the life she has been living, one’s studies, and literature. Normally, if you look at the vomit of a drunk person, it is smelly and disgusting, but this book is a book you want to keep close to you every day because it gives you a feel of taking a walk with a lover since it is beautiful like a garden with a beautiful fragrance. Hanna says happiness is not something far away beyond a mountain but something inside and around us by plainly expressing that happiness is getting along with people closest to you. So she enlightens us on how to get along with people close to you. Especially, she makes the reader think specifically with two points to think about at the end of each chapter. In summary, Hanna’s writing is a confession as well as a research book written with ‘the attitude of grinding an axe to make a needle’ as she said in the conclusion. I want to compliment her on writing the book with an attitude of researching plainly like a painting ‘a self-portrait’ of her own face. I hope this book is published soon so I can keep it close to me. - Shin Seong-jong (Pastor, CEO of Christian Literature Tree) |
