시중 문법책의 어려운 용어들은 영어 공부에 큰 의미가 없다. 오히려 그 용어로 말미암아 우리 세대나 지금 한창 영어 공부 중인 아이들이 영어에 벽을 느끼는 것일 수도 있다. 되려 자신이 직접 사전을 통해 단어의 쓰임과 관용구로 쓰이는 표현을 찾고 틀려보는 일련의 과정들이 해외연수코스보다 값진 경험이 될 수 있다. 내가 써봤기 때문에 남이 쓴 표현 또한 쉽게 이해되고 긴 영어 문장이 한 덩어리로 눈에 쏙 들어와 빠른 독해가 가능해진다. 이는 우리가 모국어를 배울 때 국어 문법을 따로 배우지 않고 언어 구사를 하는 것과 똑 같은 이치다. --- 책을 펴내며 중에서
