명지대학교 정치외교학과 부교수이다. 통일연구원 부연구위원으로 재직했다. 미국 럿거스대학교에서 정치학 박사학위를 취득했다. 주요 관심 분야는 국제정치이론과 동아시아 국제관계, 무력분쟁과 군사동맹, 미중 관계와 외교정책 분석이다. 논저로 「Democracy and Diversionary Conflict: External Transparency and Domestic Constraints」, 「The Indo-Pacific Strategy and US Alliance Network Expandability」(공저), 「Religious Identity and the Democratic Peace」, 「동아시아 세력전이와 한반도 전쟁: 19세기 청일전쟁과 21세기 미중경쟁」이 있다.
