As we begin this journey through Romans, I want us to keep one thing in mind. It is certainly important to gain a logical understanding of biblical knowledge. But more than that, I want each word of this letter to come alive in our hearts. I want us to live out this message by faith, not merely understand it in our minds. Even if it takes time, I hope we can patiently examine and embrace the essence of this truth together.
--- p.11 So, who is the righteous person? The righteous person is the one who stands at God’s right hand. The one who experiences God’s power and blessings at His right hand is truly righteous. A righteous person is someone who obey God’s Word. In order to obey, the barrier of sin that separated us from God had to be torn down. Jesus accomplished this by fully atoning for our sins with His precious blood. He mediated for us so that we could be united with God. --- p.41p clothed in pure righteousness. This is the very essence of Jesus’ work on the cross. Therefore, simply remaining in the mindset of saying, ‘I was forgiven! I am going to heaven! I am fine now!’ is not true faith. Such a faith is, in fact, a distorted one. God’s purpose in saving us is not merely to forgive our sins. Rather, His desire is to forgive us through Jesus Christ, to restore our relationship with Him through Jesus as our mediator, and to lead us to walk continuously abide with Him under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. --- p.104 |

I hope that you will advance into a deeper world of faith
With the great love and grace of God and the inspiration of the Holy Spirit This book was written and preached with the constant prayer that it will lead readers to the awe-inspiring knowledge and faith toward God that will never waver from the perspective of covenant theology, faithful to the talent that God has given the author. Although it does not explain every single verse like a commentary on Romans, the depth of this book is by no means shallow. The title of this book and the verse in Romans 1:17, “The righteous will live by faith” speak of what we need to live. The author began his sermon using Romans with the goal of examining the essence of how we can live by faith according to the Word. He hopes that we will not stop at just knowing Romans intellectually, but that joy will arise within us every time we think of the words of Romans and live this life. Romans is the gospel that most systematically explains the gospel in the Bible and clearly shows us how to live a holy life. Let's follow the journey of Saul, who thoroughly observed the law and persecuted Jesus, to his conversion and to see what kind of resonance the letters he wrote to the Roman church as an apostle have for us today. |
