『소방시설론[전기편]』의 저자이다
초등교사 생활 40년. 학생들에게 읽기와 쓰기를 강조하여 가르친 경험을 바탕으로 14권의 책을 출간했습니다. 한국에 신문활용 교육(NIE)을 소개하고, 여전히 읽기와 쓰기를 잘 배우고 가르치는 일에 전념하고 있습니다. 읽고 쓰기를 잘해야 ‘기쁘고 즐거운 사람’이 되는 열락군자(悅樂君子)의 꿈을 꿉니다. 성균관대학교 교육대학원을 졸업하고 제 6, 7차 초등 국어교과서 집필위원으로 참여했다. 초등학교 아이들을 직접 교육하며 독서 교육에 대한 필요성을 절실히 느낀 이후에 지속적으로 독서 지도에 대한 공부를 해왔다. 그가 좋아하는 것은 바로 이것 ‘?’, 즉, 물음표다. 모든 것이

성균관대학교 교육대학원을 졸업하고 제 6, 7차 초등 국어교과서 집필위원으로 참여했다. 초등학교 아이들을 직접 교육하며 독서 교육에 대한 필요성을 절실히 느낀 이후에 지속적으로 독서 지도에 대한 공부를 해왔다. 그가 좋아하는 것은 바로 이것 ‘?’, 즉, 물음표다. 모든 것이 여기서 출발한다고 믿는다. ‘출력 독서’도 마찬가지다. 독서에 대해 누구도 상상하지 못한 용어로부터 새 출발하려고 한다. 남이 가지 않은 길을 가는 데 두려워하지 않는 삶을 살려고 Reading에 빠져 산다.

또한 우리나라 신문활용교육(NIE)의 창시자이며, (사)책따세에서 이사로 활동 중이다. 전국의 학교 및 학부모를 대상으로 각종 독서 교육 및 교사 연수 과정에 강사로 활동하고 있다. 지은 책으로는 『신문으로 공부하는 399가지 방법』, 『신문은 내 친구』, 『한눈에 보는 한국의 궁궐』, 『너 사설? 나 논술!』, 『신문으로 공부하자』, 『초등학교 입학 전 읽기능력이 평생성적을 결정한다』, 『우리도 속 터진다구요』, 『초등 성적 쑥쑥 올려주는 똑똑한 책읽기』 외 여러 권이 있다. 그는 늘 공부하고 열락군자(悅樂君子)를 꿈꾼다.

소방에 입문한 학생들이 소방을 잘 알기 위해서는 먼저 ‘소방시설을 이해하는 것’이 필요하다. 왜냐하면, 소방이란 화재와 불을 다루는 학문으로써 화재가 발생하였을 시 초기에 진압하여 화재확산을 막고 또한 위급한 상황에서 신속하게 대피를 하며, 불가피하게 고립된 사람들을 구조하는 등의 활동을 말하는데 이 모든 상황을 가능하게 하도록 소방시설에 집중되어 있기 때문이다. 예컨대, 불이 난 사실을 신속하게 알리기 위하여 『경보설비』가 있고, 불을 직접 끄거나 자동으로 소화하기 위하여 『소화설비』가 있다. 그리고 신속하고 안전하게 대피를 유도하고 고립된 인명을 구조하는 『피난구조설비』가 있다. 소방은 이러한 설비를 설계·생산·설치·유지·관리를 하는 일을 한다. 이를 하여 설계·감리업, 제조업, 공사업, 점검관리업, 소방안전관리자, 소방공무원 등이 있으며, 앞으로 여러분들이 종사하는 소방분야이다. 단언컨대, ‘소방시설의 이해는 곧 소방의 이해’이다. 먼저 기본적으로 알아야 할 것은 첫째, 용어에 대한 의미, 둘째, 각 설비에 대한 구조 및 작동원리, 셋째, 설치기준이다. 이 세 가지를 이해한다면 소방의 큰 틀을 갖추게 되는 것이고 그 외에 추가로 ‘어떤 기능이 있는가’에 대한 내용을 알아간다면여러분들은 이미 소방전문가의 길에 들어섰다고 본다. 이 책은 대부분 이 3가지 기본적 사항을 토대로 구성되어 있다.본서는 대학에서 다년간 소방시설론을 강의하면서 터득한 Knowhow(방법)를 바탕으로 학생들이 ‘꼭 알아야 할 사항’은 무엇인지, 그리고 반드시 ‘알아야 할 사항’은 무엇인지‘를 고민하고 연구하여 정성스럽게 구성하였다. 소방시설의 근거가 되는 소방시설법(약칭)과 화재안전기준(NFSC), 그리고 형식승인 기술기준을 중심으로 서술하였으며, 이해를 돕기 위하여 중요한 사항은 진한 돋움체로 표기하였다. 이 책에 수록된 내용을 잘 배워둔다면 소방의 기초학문을 넓힐 뿐만 아니라 소방설비기사(산업기사) 자격시험준비에 매우 큰 도움이 될 것으로 확신한다.
