The Dog and The Fox

Some dogs found the skin of a Lion and furiously began to tear it with their teeth. A fox chanced to see them and laughed scornfully.

개와 여우
개 몇 마리가 사자의 모피를 발견하고는 격렬하게 이빨로 찢기 시작했다. 한 여우가 우연히 그들을 보고 비웃었다.

"If that lion had been alive," he said, "it would have been a very different story. He would have made you feel how much sharper his claws are than your teeth."

"사자가 살아있었다면 저러진 않았겠지." 여우가 비아냥거렸다.
"그를 보면 사자의 발톱이 네 이빨보다 더 날카롭구나 싶을 테니까."

furious: 몹시 화가 난
scornful: 멸시하는
claw: 발톱

* 가정법 과거완료 공식

if+주어+had+과거분사, 주어+(would, should, could, might(우슈쿠마))+have+과거분사

가정법 과거완료는 과거 사실과는 반대되는 점을 이야기할 때 쓴다.
