영어교수법은 영국 The University of Birmingham에서 석사과정을 하던 시기에 처음 접한 과정으로, 영어를 배우고 가르치는 것을 관찰하면서 많은 부분의 통찰력을 갖게 해준 과정이었다. 학생들에 따라, 교육제도에 따라, 언어환경에 따라, 다르게 영어를 가르쳐야 한다는 것을 깨닫는 교사로서는 아주 중요한, 요리에서의 recipe를 알게 해주는 과정이었다.
2005년 처음으로 국제 디지털대학교에서 학부강좌를 열면서 그 동안에 배웠던 것을 잘 정리하면서 석·박사 과정에서 궁금해 하고 혼돈되었던 개념들을 명확히 정의 내리기 위해 노력하면서 오늘 출간할 수 있는 강의안의 기초를 만들 수 있었다. 2008년부터 영어강의로 Upgrade 되어 Natural Approach로 접근하려고 하고 있으나 전문 용어의 생소함으로 영어강의만으로는 개념이 명확히 정립되지 않아서 한글 용어 정리의 필요성과 학생들로부터의 요청으로 이번 2009년에 한글강의안과 영어강의안을 동시에 편성한 영어교수법 교재가 완성하게 되었다. The book has focused on a variety of theories and principles which are useful for prospective and new teachers who are interested in TESOL or hope to start their teaching career as well as those who have been teaching children English in the classroom. Today we live in the era of students-centered education, not teachers-centered education. For the era, it's important to understand learners rather than the way of transmitting knowledge. To teach our learners better, we need to know methodology, motivation in and out of the classroom, learning-related variables, sociopolitical contexts, interaction with learners, classroom management, strategies-based instruction, teaching language skills, and assessment, which will be dealt with in the book. --- '머리말' 중에서 |
