저자 소개

피에르 로티 (Pierre Loti)
1850~1923. 프랑스의 소설가, 해군 장교. 로슈포르(Rochefort) 출생.
선원(船員) 집안 출신으로, 본명은 줄리앙 비오(Louis-Marie Julien Viaud)이다. 해군 장교로서 남태평양의 폴리네시아를 시작으로 이스탄불, 중국, 일본, 팔레스타인 등지를 두루 돌아다녔고, 각지의 인상을 바탕으로 관능적(官能的)이고 이국적(異國的)인 작품을 썼다. 주요 저서에 『아지야데 Aziyade』(1879) 『로티의 결혼 Le Mariage de Loti』(1880) 『아이슬란드의 어부 Pecheur d'Islande』(1886) 『국화 부인 Madame Chrysantheme』(1887) 『라문초 Ramuntcho』(1897) 등이 있다.
