저자 소개

Rudyard Kipling (1865?1936) was a British writer and poet best known for his works set in British colonial India. Born in Bombay (now Mumbai), he was sent to England for his education but later returned to India, where he worked as a journalist and began his literary career. His writing often explored themes of empire, adventure, and duty, reflecting both admiration and critique of British imperialism.
Kipling gained international fame with works such as The Jungle Book (1894), Kim (1901), and the poem If? (1910), which remains widely quoted. His distinct narrative style and deep knowledge of Indian culture contributed to his success. In 1907, he became the youngest recipient of the Nobel Prize in Literature, recognizing his literary achievements.
Despite his acclaim, his pro-imperialist views have led to ongoing debates about his legacy. His works continue to be studied for their literary merit and historical context, making him a complex and influential figure in English literature.
