John Bunyan was a 17th-century English Christian writer and preacher who continued to write even during imprisonment for defending his Puritan faith and his most famous work The Pilgrim’s Progress became a globally influential allegory of the believer’s spiritual journey. Despite having little formal education he demonstrated deep biblical knowledge and conviction that resonated strongly with ordinary readers and through his clear yet symbolic prose he was able to express complex theological themes in an accessible way. His life and legacy continue to embody messages of religious liberty, the power of faith, and the spiritual struggles within the human soul.
